We are pleased to introduce you to our newest team member here at Simple Elegance, Nicole Kempf! Nichole is a native of Kansas City, Kansas. She developed a love of party planning at a young age helping her mom host parties in their home. Organizing social events was something that came to be a skill which she picked up from her mother’s creativity, planning and organization. Later, Nichole graduated from Kansas State University in August of 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Apparel Textiles and Marketing with emphasized studies in Business.
Following graduation, Nichole began working as an Event Intern at The University of Kansas Hospital where she has accrued over five years’ experience planning corporate events. She is currently the Senior Community Relations Coordinator and has been the lead on events ranging from 10- 2,500 attendees. While working at the Hospital, Nichole began assisting friends with their weddings and private parties. She knew planning weddings was something she had a passion for and wanted to continue to do. After joining the Simple Elegance team as an assistant in the winter of 2014, Nichole is excited to be planning weddings as a consultant. Nichole’s goal as your coordinator is to help make your special day everything you hoped for. She will accomplish this by using her expertise to relieve any stress or worry; allowing you and your family to enjoy this memorable occasion to the fullest.
We asked Nichole a few questions to get to know her better and learn some fun insights into who we are here at Simple Elegance. Here’s what she had to say…
Status: I currently live on the Plaza and I have been dating my boyfriend, Sam, for almost 10 months.
Where do you call home? Kansas City, KS
What is your favorite summer activity? Going to outdoor concerts or relaxing by the pool.
What wedding trend are you loving right now? I love seeing what people choose to do for centerpieces. Flowers are always gorgeous but it’s fun to see the different things people want to come up with based on the couple’s personal style or interests. I also like the different desserts people are offering. It’s good to have the traditional cake but also offering a variety of selections, something for all of your guests sweet tooth.
Favorite place to visit in Kansas City and why: I enjoy going down to the Farmer’s market if I have time. Picking out fresh ingredients and trying a new recipe.
How would you describe your personal style? I would say that I have a classic style.
What book is on your nightside? I wish I had more time to read! The last book I read was “Gone Girl”. Lately I’m either flipping through a Kansas City or cooking magazine.
What is your favorite season? Fall- perfect temperature, great colors and clothes!
What do you enjoying doing in your free time? In my free time I’m usually spending time with friends or family. I enjoy being apart of the different races around the city. I have done a number of 5Ks, 10Ks, 1/2 marathons and I’m currently training for my second Sprint triathlon.
Do you root for K-State, KU or MU or another affiliation? K-State Wildcats!! Go State : )
What is your favorite part about a wedding? When the groom first sees the bride or hearing speeches from the family and friends.
What is one of your favorite places to visit/vacation and why? I have two, just depending on what I’m in the mood for- Chicago for great food, shopping and things to do. Or, Breckenridge I love to ski, hike, climb and rafting.
What is one thing you never leave home without? My cell phone (which has my calendar). Always need to stay organized!
How would your best friend describe you? This is a hard one too…probably that I have a “work hard, play hard” attitude. I would say loyal, trustworthy, a planner and a hard worker.
What do you love most about your job here at SE? I’m still new to the team but so far I love having a team of talented women to work with. I look forward to learning more from each wedding I’m a part of. I enjoy working with different venues, caterers and vendors. There are so many great teams around the city!
